Simon Hardwick
I'm Simon Hardwick and it's my job to make those Sunday morning chores bearable by offering you the perfect soundtrack for washing the car, cooking the sunday lunch, cleaning the house, sorting the garden out!
I'm pleased to be on the radio between 8 and midday not only because of the great songs I get to play, but also because it gets me out of doing those jobs myself.
I'm Sussex born and bred, and I love the place so much I've not moved away (apart from a brief spell in Ireland where I learnt about Guinness).
** Little known facts about me which are unlikely to win you any prizes in pub quizes: **
1) Honor Blackman from the Avengers once called me a "swine".
2) For charity I once had to strip off and had only a kermit the frog to cover my modesty. Someone took a photo. I'm hoping it won't surface in the future when I'm rich and famous (I intend to marry a female football star and become the first male WAG... or I guess... HAB would be correct? Husbands and Boyfriends?)
3) My memory is going, which is annoying, but also great for watching films as I forget the plotlines and can watch them again as if it was the first time!
4) My hero is Nile Rogers (one half the of disco group CHIC) who wrote the majority of the stuff we* dance to each weekend. I met Nile once when Chic played the Brighton Centre, a thoroughly nice chap and it was the only time I've ever been starstruck.
* I say WE but actually, I dance like your dad, so it's best that I don't.
5) Back when I was at school, I learnt music. I didn't have the talent or looks to be in a band, or to make a career out of it, but I do occasionally do some cheesy and unnecessary remixes of songs just for the fun of it. I like to see the reaction when people say... "no way, he didn't have the nerve to remix that did he? Oh ... he did".
